It is not uncommon for law enforcement personnel to encounter citizens who because of a variety of circumstances, lack the resources when they respond to service calls. Examples of this could include a victim of domestic violence who needs to immediately leave a volatile situation but does not have the funds for a hotel room, a fire victim needing food and other essential items to get through the night, or a stranded motorist with mechanical issues or simply in need of gas. Most of these expenses are minimal but have a great impact for the affected citizen. Previously it was not uncommon for the individual deputies to pay for these needs out of their own pocket. The Foundation purchases cash cards for the Deputies and Park Rangers to give them fiscal resources for these citizens.
